Dorit Bat Shalom is a native born Israeli who can trace her family back seven generations in Israel.
Dorit had a not-for-profit theater company of her own in Israel for twenty years, out of which emerged the concept for the Peace Tent. The project had its original incarnation in Israel with participants from Israel. Dorit used theater as a medium for participatory analysis of both socialogical and psychological ills, so that the theater became a forum for understandoing, issue mediation, and resolution. The Peace Tent represents the furtherance of these principle concepts of approach and therefore becomes a teaching forum.
Dorit currently resides in Mendocino County, California She travels throughout the United States and Israel with the Peace Tent project, bringing individuals and groups from foreign and domestic locations to participate. In the past three years, Dorit has taken five delegations for peace from the United States to Isreal to give workshops and participate in inter-faith healing sessions and ceremonies as part of the Peace Tent mission. Dorit uses her own art work as well as work from other artists to further the reach of the Peace Tent.
